Where in Philly are you? I'm in central NJ, but have family in Philly. My son (a former World and National champion) lives in Newark, DE.

There's a game store in Hamilton, NJ that I go to, but unfortunately I haven't been able to convince the owner to stock Dragon Dice™. Still, they have open gaming nights, so maybe one week we could meet up there. My kids (ages 18-26) all play as well, so I might be able to get together a group.

1. what is the rule on how many of each die can you use?
in a 36 point army.

The only restriction on number of dice is that only half can be a magic producing die. i.e. a die that has a magic or cantrip icon on it.

There used to be an additional rule limiting Eldarim champions, but that was removed a while ago.

2. are there any dice restricted to 1 or banned.

The only dice that are banned are production misprints. those are very rare.

3. can i play a game with 9, 4 health dice?

YES!

4. is the dracolich a dragon?

No, dragons are 12 sided dice. the dracolich is a ten sided dice and thus is a monster.

5. i have a full set of undead can you help me build a team?

'full set' is a very loaded term. To some it means one of each of the 20 dice in that race, to some it means 36 (or 60) health of each of the 20 dice in that race.

That is a strategy question and there is no perfect answer. Each player has their own style and that a passive player can not usually an aggressive army as effectively as someone else. The army construction is the first part, but how you play with them is equally important.

However, there are some themes in how you can approach building an army that works for you. Choose how you are going to achieve a victory condition. This is most important, don't just do things, always move towards victory. Choose two things you want your army to be good at: saving, melee, missile, maneuver, magic. Choose if you want to have consistent results or if you want more chaotic results that can be higher or lower than the average. Choose if you want to be VERY good at something at the expense of being VERY bad at something else or do you want to do all things equally. Those decisions will lead you to use certain dice over another.

Then play against as many people as you can to learn what your weaknesses are and how you might tweak a die or here there to help.

thank you both,
we now have 3 people in our play group and we alot of questions.

1. can night moves be used on any terrain in play, other than the one my magicians are at?

2. how is damaged resolved in this case, i do 1 damage to the defending army. he has no dice below 2 health.

3. my 2 starting terrains, can i use any terrain, for example vortex. and can you use 2 of the same terrain?

4. after 1 player gains control of the 8th face, can the other player manuver it down?

5. how are the minor terrains used?

6. how does a artifact work? dragonstaff

7. are the dragonkin a race. can you play just dragonkin?

thank you

Some of these questions are answered by switching to version 3.01 rules.

1) Night Moves no longer exists as a spell in version 3. However, if you want to use version 2 of the rules, Night Moves can be cast "Target any of your armies containing an Undead unit at a terrain". The spell always has the target with any qualifiers that have to be in place for the spell to work.

2) If there is not enough damage to equal the health, then it is ignored. The rule is simple: you must take as much damage as possible up to the amount of damage inflicted.

3) No. Certain terrains, like Vortex, can only be Frontier terrains. If you want to bring, for example, 2 Cities, that is fine.

4) Yes. If the other player at the terrain out-maneuvers the player controlling the 8th face, then the terrain is turned down to 7.

5) That is not a simple question. Please read the rules on Minor Terrains, and if you have a question after that, please ask.

6) Artifacts are just 4-point items. They follow all the other rules of magic items. Again, read the section on items, and let us know if you have questions. Not sure what you want to know about Dragonstaffs.

7) Dragonkin are a race, but not a playable race. They are summoned in to play via spells.

Please switch to the version 3.01 rules. I think you will find them much easier to understand.

We are thinking very seriously of being at PAX Unplugged. It will be in Philly! I'm posting here to see if any of the people on this thread would like to help us out. Details on PAX Unplugged: http://unplugged.paxsite.com/

I have to find a place to play. There's a game store in Hamilton, NJ (outside of Trenton), but they don't carry Dragon Dice™ despite my best efforts. They do have an open board game night, so maybe we could go then. Now that school is slowing down, I should be a little more free with my schedule.

SFR will not have a booth. We will be in a corner of Level-up Dice's booth.

As Chuck said, we are sharing space with Level Up Dice. Are you attending Unplugged? We won't have any events, but we will have some of our product line available for purchase.
