For those with a less mathematical bent (see legitimate thread up north if you do get bent up about math), we have another diversion. I think it's common practice (at least it is here in Jersey) to call the 6-6-6 terrain configuration the "Devil's Table." (If you don't know why, read the book of Revelation or watch any supernatural "end of the world" movie.) As far as we know, that's the only starting table that has it's own nickname. So we want to know what names you might apply to other starting tables (terrain configurations). We're going to give a couple of ideas to get you started:

1-1-1: The "Ohdang" Table, as in "Oh dang, this is gonna be a long game!" (Yes, I know this could have another appelation, but we're trying to keep it clean here.)

4-4-4: The "Pincushion" Table, since this is the only terrain configuration that guarantees all the terrains will start in missile range.

1-2-3: The "Gloria Estefan" Table-although some of you are probably too young to get this. This could also be called the "Kindergarten" or "Sesame Street" Table.

For musicians, the 1-5-1 and 1-4-1 tables could be called the "Perfect" and "Plagal" Tables, but that wouldn't make any sense to non-musicians.

So give us your ideas!

Nice ideas-but you can't have a starting table with a 7 or 8. We want to keep it to legal starting configurations. (Of course, I didn't mention that before...) Otherwise we could have 8-8-8, the "Cheater's Table" (or, as we would call it in my house, Robert's Table).

How about the 1-1-1 being Wizard's Rule! and 5-5-5 as Triple Nickel?

1-4-5: The Demo Board

Actually, this is only if it's a home at 1 magic, the frontier at 4 missile, and the other home at 5 melee. But it could be a general reference over time.

(And yes, we are rigging the demo terrains so that we have one of each type of action showing at the beginning of a demo. We explain that normally the terrains are rolled, but for demo purposes we're starting like this. If you have any complaints, e-mail the SFR sales director at wholesale@sfr-inc.com, but I can assure you he'll ignore you. Mr. Green )

We have a lot more boards to cover. These are all the 1-X-Y tables and their names:

1)1-1-1: Ohdang Board/Wizard's Rule/Genesis
2)1-2-1: Blind Date
3)1-3-1
4)1-4-1: Plagal Table
5)1-5-1: Perfect Table
6)1-6-1
7)1-1-2
8 )1-1-3
9)1-1-4: Emma Tillman
10)1-1-5
11)1-1-6
12)1-2-2: London Bus
13)1-2-3: Gloria Estefan/Kindergarten/Sesame Street
14)1-2-4
15)1-2-5: Monty Python
16)1-2-6
17)1-3-1
18 )1-3-2
19)1-3-3: Quiz Day
20)1-3-4
21)1-3-5
22)1-3-6
23)1-4-2
24)1-4-3
25)1-4-4
26)1-4-5: Demo/Blues Board
27)1-4-6
28 )1-5-2
29)1-5-3
30)1-5-4
31)1-5-6
32)1-6-2
33)1-6-3
34)1-6-4
35)1-6-5
36)1-6-6

See, 36 1-X-Y tables, now multiply that times another 5 faces to start, and you get 216 total tables. We have 13 named tables (the nonlisted ones being 3-1-4, 4-4-4, and 5-5-5). Only 203 tables left to name!

6-x-y (where x and y are much lower than 6), and 6 is your home (and of course your opponent's horde).

This is the classic "oh crap" Shocked setup. Especially when you just let your opponent go first because you wanted to pick the terrains....

Actually, tables like 2-1-4 and 4-1-2 are just the same table, except for player's perspectives. However, if there's a cool name, go ahead and name both.

Too bad, I was just about to post:

9-1-1, the "Call-The-Cops" table ('cause someone brought an illegal die to the game!)

Now I can forget about that! Sad
