|
|
After watching so many demo's at Gencon, I decided to create these playmats in my free time* as a demo tool to help new players learn the game. I did these pro-bono, but have been known to accept gifts of chocolate as tokens of appreciation.
I was originally thinking to sell the Intermediate version via the website... However, we don't want to inhibit anyone from being able to play this wonderful game to the best of their ability! Thus we are providing a FREE electronic PDF version of all playmats.
If you've been to Gencon in the last two years, the first group are the playmats we use at the booth for demos as well as for the Novice tournaments. They contain the icons, some spells and SAI for a single race under a simplified rule set (color-less dice, no racial abilities, no 8th face effects). They also contain a cheat sheet for the turn sequence and how to resolve all the actions you can take during that turn.
The second group are the Intermediate playmats that we use for the Intermediate tournaments. They are still single race, but contain the full ruleset for that race (but no expansions, like the new terrains).**
The intention is not that you use these forever, but that you will eventually begin playing multi-racial armies and not need these mats anymore.
If you have access to a plotter, these will print just fine or you can take them to OfficeDepot and print these in B&W for around $3.
If you find any errors let me know and I will fix it.
Anyway, here are the playmats.
Demo Coral Elf
Demo Lava Elf
Demo Dwarf
Demo Goblin
Demo Amazon
Demo Swamp Stalker
Demo Undead
Demo Feral
Intermediate Coral Elf
Intermediate Dwarf
Intermediate Goblin
Intermediate Lava Elf
Intermediate Amazon
Intermediate Firewalker
Intermediate Undead
Intermediate Feral
Intermediate Swamp Stalker
Intermediate Frostwing
Intermediate Scalder
Intermediate Treefolk
*If you know anything about me, its that I have no free time after taking care of 4 kids and Cliff (couldn't even make him eat lunch today)
**Note: The amazons have access to too many spells to put them all on the sheet, so check the rulebook for the full listing.

Intermediate Frostwing seems to be missing. Thanks for all the work in developing these. _________________ Michael DeZearn

Fixed.
BTW - if you want to DL all of them, by all means do, but save them local and try not to DL them again. It saves bandwidth. |

Touché Miss Tiffany. Well done. I will put these to good use at DREAMATION and DEXCON.

So...question. I roll up to a "real" Dragon Diceâ„¢ event with one of these. Is that acceptable? Or is it "cheating" or anything? _________________ Vae Victis!

It definitely is not cheating. Our events don't require that you have every last little rule memorized. In face many people carry the rulebook or a customized spell list or army placement cards with them, just to make sure they don't forget anything. Even the most experienced players will look up an odd SAI that they don't play a lot. Better safe than sorry.
What you might find is that people will make assumptions about your skill level, but that's not a bad thing if it makes them under estimate you. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

Thank you so much MissTiffany for the great playmats! I was one of the newbies at GENCON and have tried to play at home with dice in one hand and the ruleboook in the other and it was a bit awkward to say the least. I've printed out a small mat on my home printer and will head out to Office Depot this afternoon for the bigger version!
BTW, for any fellow Firefox users, the rules box comes out a bit mangled looking but perfect in Explorer. |

Those are meant to be printed in color. So the Firewalkers is red and blue, the Frostwings is blue and black. I can see what would happen if it was printed in black and white. _________________ You can never have too many dice.

They were designed to be printed at 22 by 17 (which is a standard paper size)
but people have scaled it to 8 by 11 with some success. _________________ Multiplayer Champion Gencon11/Battlefest Champion(tied) GenCon10/World Champion GenCon07/National Champion Origins05/Intermediate Champion GenCon02/Novice Champion Origins99 |

The Intermediate playmats have been updated with a few typos that had been found.
Also the layers were removed, so those who had issues with ALL the racial layers showing up in a single page... it should be better now. |
