Those images are very very similar to the ones we use for online games. would those work or do you need higher rez?

otherwise you should be able to just download DDInv and the images will be on your filesystem right?

People have always tried to do different things with Dragondice. This is the latest (and hopefully final) incarnation of that.

A pet project we've been working on. More to come later this year.

those images will work fine enough, sadly dd inventory does not have a folder with all of them in it (the root file) if you could send me those cliff that would be great. And yes there will be a Dragon Diceā„¢ rpg, (Dragon Diceā„¢ Quest) it will be done by gencon and will be shown to the public there first...

I put the images in a database. I could burn them on a CD and mail it to you.

I know he only want to do layout once. Your images are the ones Jim did for the website only bigger right? So the quality etc is the same?

Some of them were done by Jim, some by me, some were taken from Chuck's site.

So is the quality, style etc consistent? Ie chucks dice tend to have white around them.

That sounds VERY interesting... is there any more info available here or is this a closed topic?

Chuck's pictures tend to be a bit grainy, and the non-cubical dice have white/grey areas around them.

Coral Elf thru Treefolk plus basic major and minor terrains were from Chuck's site.
Dragons, MIAM, Acolytes, and Battlefields are from Jim.
Dragonkin and Eldarim Champions are mine.

I never picked up on the 3d scanner,
it allows you to scan 3d objects.

One problem with just throwing a bunch of dice on top of a scanner is most scanners, at least the ones I've used,
have a center.

So only the die in the very center has its true shadows.
It's almost like tunnel vision.

Centering the die is another issue.

So I had to scan and rotate each die.
Chuck used Styrofoam template I believe to help with this issue,
plus it doubled as a crop.

So cropping is another issue,
as I like to have the image uncropped,
in that case,
the multiple faces of the die are seen,
with a 3d scanner,
the image would have much clarity,
but those that I did were from a default resolution...(72)
the benefit was that it was a tiny scanner,
so I did not have a long wait in-between scans.

I only started saving the fullsize images after pi and Chuck were requesting them.
So,
most of the scanning I did for the earlier races were not saved,
I only posted the bbcode end results.

During this process,
I actually wanted to create a full size (on screen resolution) set of images for game play,
as the ones posted are half size.

the scanning process took over 4 years...
anyways,
if I did get a 3d scanner,
I might be tempted. Laughing

OK, silly me. I failed to realise the question in full, which was:

Do you really need the dice faces themselves or just the icons (vector format) so that you can put them up on say, a more uniform background?

Because I don't see the need to use the actual pictures of the dice themselves.

I would recommend taking the icons and putting them across a uniform background. This makes for clearer and more consistent images.

I've got the icon faces and can release those to someone that has a good use for them. That means you will agree to give full rights to whatever you make to SFR to use in any way that SFR would like. While that sounds a bit ominous, it's just that we can't give those away and keep our rights to them if we don't say that. Shocked

But first you have to convince me on your project..... Mr. Green
