contain ONLY amazon rares... (or is that the same all over the world?)

hee-hee

There are many people on THIS side that wonder where all the rares are.

I will never understand why TSR did it, but UK amazons have one rare and no uncommons. US Amazons have one uncommon and no rares.

This brings up a question I had...if I buy Amazon kickers from SFR am I only going to get Amazon uncommons, and no rares? Or did you guys get a mix of what was out there?

Ok, I spilt this topic off, because it gets asked a lot, and it would be better if it could be found by itself.

As near as anyone can tell (a lot of TSR records got lost in the move to WotC), Monsters and Amazons got messed up. The first about 2/3 of the production run was done with only Amazon uncommons put into the box. Then the manufacturer starting putting Amazon Rares into the box, but no uncommons (I guess they ran out of uncommons). To make matters worst, about the first 2/3 of the production run was sent out for sale in the US, while the second 1/3 went to Europe. Now those numbers are not firm. And there is some evidence that it was not a hard cut-over, i.e. some cases of M&A had some boxes with uncommons and other boxes in the same case with only a rare. But the end result was a brisk trade across the Atlantic for Amazon uncommons vs. rares.

So how to tell the difference? Well one thing is for sure. In the US, display cases of M&A are a dozen. In Europe the display case is six. That said, I don't know which cases SFR has left. But I personally have opened a case of 12 that I got from SFR, that had a mix of rares and uncommons. So without opening all the cases, and all the boxes, no one can say for sure.

I'm sure chuck has opened more M&A than I ever will, so I bow to his experience in this matter.

FYI
The rule of thumb I use is to look at the back of the box.

If it has the price in pounds, then it usually has a rare.
If it has the price in pounds AND dollars, then it usually has an uncommon.

My thumb has been known to be wrong... Razz

In that case I must have had a case of 12 kickers from the US. Sad

Okay, guys, I will post this in the trading thread!

I will tell you which Amazon dice I have!

Maybe we can work something out to trade for uncommon/rare Amazon dice!
